Friday Fhtagn: Lovecraftian Horror – Arthurian Legend Webcomic
There’s an amazing webcomic that I’ve just recently stumbled upon, it’s called The Path and it brilliantly combines the darkness and horrible madness of the Lovecraftian Mythos with Arthurian Legend.
I found it one one of those post-crazy-work-days and I was trying to find some cool new webcomics to follow. Naturally, I follow Questionable Content, XKCD, Dinosaur Comics, Penny Arcade, Bad Gods and so many others… all of these are just amazing. But I was looking for something a little bit more unique, something that reminded me of the Hellblazer or Preacher graphic novels. Then I literally tripped over The Path.
It’s created by James Riot of Long Beach, CA and has a unique and amazing style of his art.
I read page one and was hooked. The artwork is stylized, beautiful and deadly. The writing is compelling and dark. The basic plot is that Cthulhu is waking and a priest and a prostitute are meeting their destiny to fight it. It’s dark, elegant and weaves the past and present of the characters’ lives in such a way that it mimics the somewhat disjointned mind of a madman.
Here are some amazing screenshots that I’ve taken of the site and these screenshots are by far, not the best, the artist adds an incredible amount of style and movement in the lines of the comic. It will waste your afternoon in its engaging, weaving and brilliant story while giving you images that you wont be able to forget.
Please, if you enjoy the universe of HP Lovecraft, the Cthulhu Mythos and the rich storied tapestry of the Arthurian Legend, go. Go now and read The Path and when you’re done with that, check out James Riot’s other creations:
All of it, brilliant stuff and it’s my new obsession.

Wow. A reader emailed me the link over here and I have to say I’m flattered! Those are some of the nicest things anyone’s said about my comic since, “Dude, you’re totally a Mignola wannabe!”
Thanks for the kind words. Sorry you tripped over the comic as I was taking a few weeks off (starting this coming week I have a contractual obligation to update, so I was slacking off while I could). If you want to shoot me a message through the “Contact Creator” option on the site with your address and shirt size, there are some free comics and other swag in it for you!

Ok, now I’m totally geeked out. Thank you so much for leaving a response! I just shot you an email from your contact page. I meant every word, it’s a great comic and rather than plowing through the story, I’m savoring every panel.
