So until June we basically have a bombastic statement about no 3D glasses needed for 3D games. Are they good for it? Well yes and no. Not having any kind of frame of refernce for how this technology will work in the gaming world we’ll just have to sit and wait. Thanks for nothing Nintendo — you might as well have told us the new DS will also be a phone.

8 bits of pure joy was about to unleash a unprecedented era of success for Nintendo that has yet to be beat. Oh they had tried before with some lame game watch years earlier, but the Game Boy to put it in relative terms was like the iPod of gaming. After it’s release it sold all the units that had been shipped in the U.S. within weeks and to date it has sold 118.69 million units worldwide.
